René Burri “Attentive, concentrated, patient – René waits like an eagle focused on his prey from the beginning of the hunt to its end.
All of a sudden, the image springs to the fore, like a shot, and he se
(...) izes it.
How long René waited for his prey we shall never know, but what does that matter now? It is the photograph that matters!
The little boy looks at ‘The Cock’, and we imagine he didn't know, at the time, that he was looking at a sculpture by Brancusi. It is a sculpture twice his size, which forces him to crane his neck completely. At that moment, the only thing that matters is the magic of the child's gaze towards the sculpture, the moment he shares with it.
‘The Cock’, is a timeless piece from 1935. This little boy must now be an old man. Perhaps he still remembers today this sharp, intense and fascinating moment.”
