Africa seemed happy to receive us. Several of the countries and territories we passed through in those far off days had never seen a white woman, let alone a woman driving a vehicle. What I always remember is the kindness shown to us from all we met, despite the fact that to many it must have been a shock to see a young white woman at the wheel. Elephants, rhino, buffalo and other native wildlife were still free to wander.
