Description

Join us on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Public Trust for Glad Tidings of Benevolence, a conversation exploring US-led invasions and the construction—through image and language—of competing narratives of war.

Magnum photographer, Moises Saman will be joined in conversation by Zainab Saleh, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities at Haverford College, and James Wellford, a Senior Photo Editor for Global Issues at National Geographic in Washington, DC. A reception will follow.

This event is presented in partnership with Public Trust and the John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities at Haverford College. Organized in conjunction with Magnum America / U.S.A. at Public Trust, Glad Tidings of Benevolence takes its point of departure from the recent eponymous Magnum publication, which revisits work from the 1940s to the present and across the wide breadth of American history. Accompanied by an archival display of images, events in this series feature photographers from the book in dialogue about their work, the complexity of the democratic experiment, and the many contemporary social and political dilemmas confronting us today.
