We are incredibly proud of the work our Education team has done in partnership with our colleagues at Create Jobs on the Creativity Works programme.
Magnum Photos is committed to fostering greater diversity and inclusion within our own organisation and the wider photographic industry. This programme is just one of the ways that we are seeking to actively meet this need.
As well as supporting 40 young adults aged 18-24 with free photographic training and career advice via the last two iterations of our programme, we have also offered two year-long, entry-level traineeships for people from under-represented or minoritized backgrounds. We are happy to continue our collaboration to diversify and broaden the scope of the Magnum workforce through our partnership with Create Jobs and continue to do so for years to come.
Magnum Photos is proud to partner with Create Jobs for a third year to offer a free 6-week photography course to young Londoners, aged 18 to 24 years old.
This intensive course provides a network for London’s young creative talent and equips them with the skills, knowledge and inspiration to tell stories that are important to them, that inform and impact social change. Through a range of practical workshops and activities, critique sessions and talks, twenty-five young Londoners will develop their own visual language and the skills required to understand photography’s ever-changing marketplace.
Due to COVID-19, this year’s Creativity Works programme will be delivered online, by Magnum photographers Newsha Tavakolian and Hannah Price. Tavakolian is a Magnum photographer based in Tehran, Iran. Price recently joined Magnum Photos as a Nominee and is based in the USA. Participants will work with them to develop a body of work for a virtual exhibition.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 1 October, 10am.
