George Rodger Ubangi-Shari, Central African Republic (formerly known as French Equatorial Africa). 1951.
“Even in the remotest parts of central Africa, Jinx reflects on the tough day ahead while assisting Georg
(...) e photographing the Diamond Hunters of Ubangi-Shari.
These were a remote team, working in very harsh conditions, involved in prospecting and collecting diamonds from in and around the Ubangi and Shari rivers.
It is not easy to imagine how the day will unfold — with rivers to cross, encounters with wild animals, and difficult negotiations — but a little preparation goes a long way.”
