Magnum photographers in focus in Süddeutsche Zeitung
The latest issue of Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, produced in collaboration with Magnum, aims to explore moments which gave photographers hope during the ongoing crisis of COVID-19. The issue, edition 17/2020 of the weekend supplement of the German newspaper, is dedicated entirely to works by Magnum photographers, who share views from their whereabouts around the world. Magnum photographers in Vogue
The latest edition of Vogue’s print magazine, themed ‘Creativity in a Time of Crisis’, features a portfolio of images which includes the work of David Hurn, Peter van Agtmael, Chien-Chi Chang, Jonas Bendiksen, and Martin Parr. Vogue writes, “we asked designers, photographers, artists, editors, models (and a few celebrities we love) to show us what their lives have looked like these past weeks. The result? An extraordinary document of self-expression, and a reminder of the resilience of hope.” See the images here.
Magnum photographers in L’Internazionale
L’Internazionale magazine’s recent special photographic issue, on the theme of COVID-19, has featured Magnum photographers. Five spreads were dedicated to Alex Majoli’s work from Sicily in the print publication, which also featured collaged infrared photography by Antoine d’Agata made in Paris, and selections of work by Jonas Bendiksen, Olivia Arthur, and Peter van Agtmael.
Latest edition of collaboration between National Geographic and Magnum Photos
The newest instalment of the series on National Geographic made in collaboration with Magnum Photos is up online now. The series curates images made by photographers living under restrictions to their movements during the COVID-19 pandemic. This week’s edit explores essential work. See it here. Jerôme Sessini marks one-month of confinement in France, for Le Monde
Recently 16 photographers took part in a group assignment for the newspaper Le Monde, documenting a day in the life of France during lockdown, to mark one month since the restrictions began. The photographers shot 16 locations across France at precise hours of the day: Jerôme Sessini was tasked with photographing Muhouse and Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, in the Haut-Rhin region. Alex Majoli in De Standaard weekend magazine
Magnum photographer Alex Majoli’s work depicting Sicily in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic have been featured in De Standaard’s weekend magazine. See the images in the magazine’s April 18 print edition, or online here.
Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris-Webb selected for The New York Times’ Five Artists to Follow on Instagram
The New-York-based photographic duo Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb have been featured in The New York Times’ top five list of artists’ to follow on Instagram. The newspaper said, “Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb use [Instagram] to resurface three-plus decades of work, including some of Mr. Webb’s color-intense classics from places like Oaxaca, Mumbai or Havana,” and describe their collaborative approach to curating their feed as “evidence […] of a beautiful partnership.” See the full list of recommendations here.
