(...) City development — a joint venture between a China developer with the state government and Sultan of Johor. The ambitious project plans to make four artificial islands out of the sea. One has so far been made, with a hotel, residential and commercial complex built on it. It is sold as a development that is green and a model of future urban planning, but has displaced aboriginals and disrupted traditional fishing grounds and eco life. Gelang Patah, Johor.
