Larry Towell | PAR77378 My sisters, Dorothy and Shelley, in an abandoned house. This picture was taken on one of my very first rolls of film while I was beginning university. The school lent me a camera and I went to phot
(...) ograph at home, the place I wanted to be the most. I would drive through the countryside with my younger sisters, and we would explore the empty farmhouses that dotted the countryside at the time. The field behind is freshly ploughed. Many of the abandoned farmhouses are now torn down. A rural landmark is gone. This house was sided with cedar shingles, naturally grayed. Some houses were abandoned until the late 1960s and early 1970s. Lambton County, Ontario. Canada. 1974. © Larry Towell | Magnum Photos
